Officials have determined what killed actress Linda Lavin.

The main cause of death for the “Alice” star was cardiopulmonary arrest while lung cancer was the underlying cause, TMZ was the first to report.

Her death certificate also said she was cremated earlier this month after she died in December.

Days before her death she had undergone a bronchoscopy procedure where a doctor examined the lungs, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

Her representative said she had “passed unexpectedly due to complications from a recently discovered lung cancer,” People magazine reported.

Lavin got her big break starring as Alice Hyatt in 1976 on “Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore.” The show was later renamed simply, “Alice” and followed the story of a widow who worked as a waitress at the fictional Mel’s Diner while also raising her son.

She was nominated for an Emmy and won two Golden Globes.

Lavin also appeared on “Barney Miller” and starred in several Broadway plays, nominated for six Tony Awards. She won one for “Broadway Bound,” TMZ said.

Her final roles included three episodes of “No Good Deed,” 2025′s “One Big Happy Family” and an upcoming episode of “Mid-Century Modern,” according to IMDB.
