It’s pretty hard to believe that’s it’s been one year since the untimely death of rapper, Juice World. He passed away just as his career was beginning to take off, and even though he was only 21 years old, his musical impact was felt around the world.

1. Juice Wrld is originally from Chicago, Illinois.

2. Juice Wrld’s real name is Jared Higgens, and his stage name was inspired by the 1992 film Juice starring 2Pac.

This gritty hip hop infused thriller tells the story of a group of young black friends who are navigating high school life and doing all they can to protect themselves and make it in a world plagued with police harassment, gang violence, and family issues.

3. Juice Wrld dealt with serious anxiety and depression.

Juice Wrld’s emo vibe was a reflection of his real life. He often rapped about his mental health struggles in his music. “Wishing Well” is a song in which he really talked about his depression and addiction.

4. Juice Wrld was so talented that on more than one occasion he freestyled rapped for an hour or more.
